Point to Bay Ride for Raising Funds for Area School Children Hunger Program

Jim Healey’s in-studio guest on Thursday morning was Mac Hollan, the driving force behind a benefit fund raiser associated with the Bonner County Community Foodbank. They discussed the program and raising awareness about hunger in Bonner County’s school-aged population and the goal of providing backpacks filled with nutrition for students to take to their homes over the weekends.

Mac’s ambitious fund-raising goal is to bike from Sandpoint, Idaho, all the way north to the North Slope coast of Alaska’s Wilderness — a trip of over 2,750 miles beginning on June 17!

You can learn more about the program and details of the fund raiser at www.pointtobay.com, or contact Mac directly about participating at [email protected].

A note on KRFY funding

How has defunding and closure of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting affected KRFY? Our station is funded solely by listeners, supporters and underwriters and has never received funding from the CPB. But some syndicated shows KRFY airs will be affected. The National Federation of Community Broadcasters has prepared a statement on impacts of the CPB closure. Click to read it.
