Morning Show Features: Chamber of Commerce, Panhandle Animal Shelter and Music Conservatory of Sandpoint

Here’s what’s coming up this week of July 30 on the Morning Show on KRFY. Airtime is 8 a.m. … but if you miss a show, you can hear a recorded podcast of it later in the day, on our Podcasts page.

Tuesday, July 31: Hosts Julie Kallemeyn and Phil Hough will visit with Ricci Witte and Kate McAlister from the Bonner County Chamber of Commerce. Tune in at 8 a.m.

Wednesday, August 1:  Hosts Chris, Suzy and Ryan will sit down with Mandy Evans, executive director of the Panhandle Animal Shelter. Tune in to hear all about cats, dogs, and the many programs offered by the shelter.  Airtime is 8 a.m.

Thursday, August 2:  Join hosts Jack Peterson Carrie Logan.  Their guests will be musicians and teachers from the Youth Summer Orchestra with the Music Conservatory of Sandpoint.  Airing promptly at 8 a.m.

Tuesday, July 24: Hosts Julie Kallemeyn and Suzy Prez will visit with Clem Yonkers and Mary Haley from the Bonner County Master Naturalists. Tune in at 8 a.m.

Wednesday, July 25:  Hosts Chris and Suzy will sit down with organizers from Uryadi’s Village and the Music Conservatory of Sandpoint to talk about their upcoming joint fundraising events.  Airtime is 8 a.m.

Thursday, July 26:  Join hosts Jim Healey and Jack Peterson and their guest Dennis Hamann from the Panhandle Antique Tractor and Engine Club.  Airing promptly at 8 a.m.

CANDIDATE INTERVIEWS

For KRFY’s Local Decision ’26, running up to the November 3 election, each Wednesday beginning September 30 we’ll be airing interviews with candidates for the contested Bonner County Commissioner District 1; and Legislative District 1 offices of House Seat A and B, and Senate.

There are also three local ballot measures to be covered during the Local Decision series. The City of Sandpoint is proposing a 1% local option tax on all sales in the city. The City of Dover will have a proposal for a 12% short-term lodging tax. The Westside Fire District is proposing a two-year property tax levy increase of $23 per $100,000 assessed value.

A variety of state and federal offices, plus ballot propositions, will also be on the ballot. Click to see the sample consolidated general election ballot.

A note on KRFY funding

How has defunding and closure of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting affected KRFY? Our station is funded solely by listeners, supporters and underwriters and has never received funding from the CPB. But some syndicated shows KRFY airs will be affected. The National Federation of Community Broadcasters has prepared a statement on impacts of the CPB closure. Click to read it.
