Morning Show topics take on parks, arts and recreation

KRFYmoringShowArtSMComing up next on the KRFY Morning Show, our station’s thrice-a-week current affairs program:

On Tuesday, July 12, tune in at 8 a.m. to the KRFY Morning Show as hosts Julie Kallemeyn and Phil Hough talk bicycling with guests will be Mike Murray, Jim Mellen and Shelby Rognstad. The topic will be the very active Pend Oreille Pedalers Bike Club and their events and works, particularly the ongoing construction of the Watershed Crest Trail that will be a major addition to the Sandpoint-area trail inventory for mountain bikers.

‘Tis the season for outdoor activities across the town, and on Wednesday, July 13, KRFY Morning Show hosts Suzy Prez and Chris Bessler will talk with Kim Woodruff, director of the Sandpoint Parks and Recreation Department.  The discussion will focus on the plethora of offerings among Sandpoint’s excellent city parks, with an update on the Memorial Field grandstand renovation and upcoming summer recreation programs. Airtime is 8 a.m.

On Thursday, July 14, tune in at 8 a.m. for KRFY Morning Show hosts Jack Peterson and Jim Healey.  Their guest will be Dyno Wahl, executive director of the Festival at Sandpoint, who will give an update on the festival season as well as the annual Festival at Sandpoint Art Unveiling happening that same night at Dover Bay, as the original artwork for this year’s poster is revealed.

A note on KRFY funding

How has defunding and closure of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting affected KRFY? Our station is funded solely by listeners, supporters and underwriters and has never received funding from the CPB. But some syndicated shows KRFY airs will be affected. The National Federation of Community Broadcasters has prepared a statement on impacts of the CPB closure. Click to read it.
