May Brings Blossoming of Good News for our Community

This first full week of May brings a bouquet of good things on the KRFY Morning Shows with information that brings our north Idaho community together.

Please tune in to 88.5 KRFY at  8:00 a.m. for the following interviews on Monday (May 4), Tuesday (May 5), Wednesday (May 6), and Thursday (May 7):

•Monday, May 4, 8:00 a.m. Jim Healey speaks with Michele Murphree about the Edible Schoolyard Project that she coordinates with local elementary schools. Joining Michele will be Elissa Wadds, Bob Huyck, and Alex Manning.

•Tuesday, May 5, the KRFY Morning Show with hosts Suzy Prez and Chris Bessler. At 8:00 a.m. their guests will be a representative from Preservation Idaho to talk about the 38th Annual Orchids and Onions Awards. Then at 8:30 a.m. their guest will be Dennison Webb from Selkirk Outdoor Leadership Education (SOLE) for a discussion about the organization’s promotion of the upcoming Idaho Gives Day on May 7.

•Wednesday, May 6, 8:00 a.m. Chris Bessler and Suzy Prez sit down with Zone 4 candidates for the upcoming Lake Pend Oreille school board trustee elections.

•Thursday, May 7, 8:00 a.m. The KRFY Morning Show hosts Jack Peterson and Diane Newcomer welcome Food For Our Children project representatives Dennis Pence, Curt Hecker, and Susan Edwards discussing this newly formed community group.

KRFY holiday spectacular live variety show

Celebrate the holidays. KRFY’s live radio show celebrating Christmas and the holidays is coming Friday, Dec 5, 7-9 p.m. at the Panida Theater. This variety show with all-local music, Christmas readings, skits and good humor has grown each year. You can tune in to 88.5 KRFY to hear the live broadcast – but even better, come share the warm holiday spirt and attend at the Panida. A note on KRFY funding

How has defunding and closure of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting affected KRFY? Our station is funded solely by listeners, supporters and underwriters and has never received funding from the CPB. But some syndicated shows KRFY airs will be affected. The National Federation of Community Broadcasters has prepared a statement on impacts of the CPB closure. Click to read it.
