Morning Show Schedule and Extra: Forest Service, WATER IS LIFE, Fired Up, 3 O’Clock Rush

Here’s what’s coming up the week of September 3 – on the Morning Show on 88.5 KRFY. Airtime is 8 a.m. … but if you miss a show, you can hear a recorded podcast of it later in the day, on our Podcasts page.

Tuesday, September 4: Host Julie Kallemeyn will visit with United States Forest Service personnel:  Duane Buchi, Amy Racki, and Ryan Leach about the area fires and the fire teams helping to stop them. Tune in at 8 a.m.

Wednesday, September 5: Featuring Week Two of a  four-part series: WATER IS LIFE, with hosts Suzy Prez and Jean Gerth.  This week their guests will be Ice Age Institute representatives:  Dr. Tony Lewis and geologist Dean Garwood along with Robin Fox, meteorologist with the National Weather Service.  Airtime is 8 a.m.

Thursday, August 30: Join hosts Jack Peterson and Jim Healey. Their guests will be Nancy Gerth and Jean Gerth who will talk about the upcoming public panel discussion – FIRED UP. Tune in  at 8 a.m.

EXTRA EXTRA – NEW SHOW LAUNCH

3 O’CLOCK RUSH (new show on 88.5 KRFY) to launch this week, Thursday, September 6 – at 3 p.m.  Join host, high school senior Ryan Baumgartner, for this high school focused music and interview show.

Tuesday, August 28: Host Julie Kallemeyn will visit with Lissa DeFreitas from Bonner Community Hospice. Tune in at 8 a.m.

Wednesday, August 29: Featuring Week One of a  four-part series: WATER IS LIFE, with hosts Suzy Prez and Jean Gerth.  This week their guests will be local health care practitioner, Nicole Grimm, and City of Sandpoint public works department heads, Amanda Wilson and Jeff Cowley.  Airtime is 8 a.m.

Thursday, August 30: Join hosts Jack Peterson and Jim Healey. Their guest will be new KRFY broadcaster Ryan Baumgartner who will talk about his new show 3 O’Clock Rush, that will air on 88.5 KRFY each Thursday at 3 p.m. starting September 6 and replay each Friday at 10 p.m.  Tune in  at 8 a.m.

EXTRA IN-STUDIO LIVE INTERVIEW with The Lil Smokies:  Thursday, August 30 at 2 p.m.  There will be stories and music from this acclaimed bluegrass band.

KRFY holiday spectacular live variety show

Celebrate the holidays. KRFY’s live radio show celebrating Christmas and the holidays is coming Friday, Dec 5, 7-9 p.m. at the Panida Theater. This variety show with all-local music, Christmas readings, skits and good humor has grown each year. You can tune in to 88.5 KRFY to hear the live broadcast – but even better, come share the warm holiday spirt and attend at the Panida. A note on KRFY funding

How has defunding and closure of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting affected KRFY? Our station is funded solely by listeners, supporters and underwriters and has never received funding from the CPB. But some syndicated shows KRFY airs will be affected. The National Federation of Community Broadcasters has prepared a statement on impacts of the CPB closure. Click to read it.
