On tap this week: Lake, community and… Judy Collins!

The lake. A foundation that now provides major new support for our town. And … Judy Collins! Check the week’s lineup for the KRFY Morning Show:

KRFY Morning ShowTuesday, June 13: Join hosts, Julie Kallemeyn and Phil Hough and as they speak with Molly McCahon and Linda Mitchell from the Lakes Commission, the advisory board to the State of Idaho on water quality and quantity issues for the Pend Oreille and Priest Lakes in Bonner County.  That’s at 8 a.m. on 88.5 KRFY.

Wednesday, June 14: Morning Show hosts, Chris Bessler and Suzy Prez will interview Jeremy Grimm, the former city planner who has recently been named local program director for the LOR Foundation, supporting rural communities in the Rocky Mountain West and important but little-known contributor to a number of Sandpoint community efforts.  Airtime is 8 a.m. on 88.5 KRFY.

Thursday, June 15: Join hosts Jim Healey and Jack Peterson for an exclusive interview with world renown, Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter, Judy Collins. Tune in for this special recorded interview and hear about her summer tour with Stephen Stills and her recent album of Stephen Sondheim songs. Catch the show at 8 a.m.

Coming right up: Annual member drive!

The first week of June is going to be busy, with the annual KRFY member drive and a pile o’ special events on air and in the studio!

KRFY Community Radio annual membership driveTuesday, June 6: Join Morning Show hosts Phil Hough and Julie Kallemeyn. Their special membership week guests will be:
– Volunteer/listener Diane Miller.
– KRFY broadcasters Gail Fendley of Hump Day Cafe, and Jason Munzke  of Americana Back Roads.
– KRFY Board Member Jean Gerth.
Tune in at 8 a.m, on 88.5 KRFY listener supported community radio for North Idaho.

Wednesday, June 7: Join Morning Show hosts Suzy Prez and Chris Bessler. Their special membership week guests will be:
– Member listener Steve Sanchez.
– KRFY broadcaster Bernie Moser of Easy on a Wednesday Morn.
– KRFY Board Member Charlie Parrish.
Airtime is 8 a.m., right here on 88.5 KRFY community radio.

Thursday, June 8: Join KRFY Morning Show hosts Jack Peterson and Jim Healeyas they talk with their special membership week guests, to wit:
– Volunteer and listener Carrie Logan.
– KRFY broadcaster Mike Bauer of the 70s and 80s Show
– KRFY Board Member Julie Perchynski.
That’s at 8 a.m on 88.5 Panhandle Community Radio.

Friday-Saturday, June 9-10: It’s our annual membership drive extravaganza! Tune in to hear special interviews all day long with representatives from different community groups, underwriters, live on-air broadcast from local musicians, drawings for free stuff and your basic broadcasting fun. What’s more, you are invited to visit our studio at 323 N. First Avenue to check us out and get in on the fun … want to do a shout out to your friends, live on the air? You can! Just come on by! KRFY holiday spectacular live variety show

Celebrate the holidays. KRFY’s live radio show celebrating Christmas and the holidays is coming Friday, Dec 5, 7-9 p.m. at the Panida Theater. This variety show with all-local music, Christmas readings, skits and good humor has grown each year. You can tune in to 88.5 KRFY to hear the live broadcast – but even better, come share the warm holiday spirt and attend at the Panida. A note on KRFY funding

How has defunding and closure of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting affected KRFY? Our station is funded solely by listeners, supporters and underwriters and has never received funding from the CPB. But some syndicated shows KRFY airs will be affected. The National Federation of Community Broadcasters has prepared a statement on impacts of the CPB closure. Click to read it.
