Varied topics on tap for Morning Show

The talk will range from wilderness to business to hospice and community food-raising efforts in the upcoming KRFY Morning Show programs. Here is what’s on tap for the week:

Friends of Scotchman PeaksTuesday, May 23: Join 88.5 KRFY Morning Show hosts Phil Hough and Julie Kallemeyn.  Their guests will be Mary Franzel and Britta Mirely, with an update from Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness.  That’s at 8 a.m. on 88.5 KRFY.

Sandpoint Business Improvement DistrictWednesday, May 24: It’s a twin-topic day, as Morning Show hosts Suzy Prez and Chris Bessler first talk with Lissa DeFreitas from Bonner Community Hospice about that organization’s work and its upcoming Hospice Kids Camp. In the second segment at the bottom of the hour, the talk turns to the Sandpoint Business Improvement District with Roger Woodworth of Mindset Matters, who is performing an independent review of the BID and soliciting input from downtown businesses to develop recommendations to the City Council for changes – or even termination of the BID. Airtime is 8 a.m., here on 88.5 KRFY .

Bonner Community Food BankThursday, May 25: Tune in to the Thursday edition of the KRFY Morning Show with hosts Jack Peterson and Jim Healey.  Their guests will be Debbie Love from the Bonner Community Food Bank and Michele Murphree from the Edible School Yard Garden Project. That’s at 8 a.m. on 88.5 KRFY community radio.

Got a question for any of our guests? When feasible, we like to ask questions from our listeners! Send us your question in advance of the show and we’ll try to ask it on air. Click to email us a question.

SOS forum recording

A “Save Our Schools” town hall was held Sept 12 at the Ponderay Events Center, and was recorded and broadcast by KRFY the following day. A capacity crowd heard discussion by a local panel on the impact on public schools of the Parental Choice Tax Credit, aka House Bill 93, that was approved by the Idaho Legislature to provide $50 million in funding to families who educate their children in private schools.  Did you miss the forum? A note on KRFY funding

How has defunding and closure of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting affected KRFY? Our station is funded solely by listeners, supporters and underwriters and has never received funding from the CPB. But some syndicated shows KRFY airs will be affected. The National Federation of Community Broadcasters has prepared a statement on impacts of the CPB closure. Click to read it.
