April Awareness Begins with the KRFY Morning Show

Tuesday, April 5 please join new KRFY Morning Show hosts, Julie Kallemeyn and Phil Hough for the Tuesday edition of the KRFY Morning Show at 8 a.m. on 88.5 KRFY. Their guest will be Erin Mader, program coordinator for Lake Pend Oreille, Pend Oreille River, Priest Lake & Priest River Commission. Erin will give an overview of the Commission’s work and an update on lake levels, flowering rush pulling and other waterways related business. Tune in to the KRFY Morning Show at 8 a.m. on 88.5 KRFY, listener supported community radio for north Idaho.

Wednesday, April 6, is an election 2016 primary review with  Morning Show hosts Chris Bessler and Suzy Prez. Leading up to the primaries, the Wednesday edition of the KRFY Morning Show will host a series of interviews with candidates with a focus on the contested seats for the upcoming primary. Tune in at 5:30 p.m. tonight, Sept 12, to hear a recording of the “Save Our Schools” town hall held last night at the Ponderay Events Center. A capacity crowd heard discussion by a local panel on the impact on public schools of the Parental Choice Tax Credit, aka House Bill 93, that was approved this year by the Idaho Legislature. It will  provide $50 million in funding for families who choose to educate their children in private schools. A note on KRFY funding

How has defunding and closure of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting affected KRFY? Our station is funded solely by listeners, supporters and underwriters and has never received funding from the CPB. But some syndicated shows KRFY airs will be affected. The National Federation of Community Broadcasters has prepared a statement on impacts of the CPB closure. Click to read it.
