Tuesday, August 23, please tune in at 8 a.m. to the KRFY Morning Show with hosts Julie Kallemeyn and Phil Hough. Their first guest will be Jim Mellen who will talk about hiking in our area. Their second guests will be Shannon Williamson from Lake Pend Oreille Water Keeper and Gary Payton, who will talk about the upcoming Lummi Nations totem pole journey and north Idaho visit. Wednesday, August 24, please tune in at 8 a.m. to the KRFY Morning Show with hosts Chris Bessler and Suzy Prez. This edition of the Morning Show show will focus on the upcoming August 30 school levy vote. The first guest will be Shawn Woodward, superintendent of the Lake Pend Oreille School district, who will give an overview of the proposed levy. A second group of guests will be proponents and opponents to the levy.  This will be a lively discussion around this community issue and will go into the nine o’clock hour. The KRFY Morning Show at 88.5 FM, listener supported community radio for North Idaho.

Thursday, August 25, please tune in at 8 a.m. to the KRFY Morning Show with hosts Jack Peterson and Jim Healey. Their guests will be coordinators of the Music Conservatory of Sandpoint. Listen on 88.5 FM, KRFY, listener supported community radio for North Idaho.

Our guest DJ returns!

Actor and filmmaker Viggo Mortensen is returning for another turn at the live microphone as a guest DJ this Thursday, Oct. 2, right here on KRFY. Viggo is a part-time local resident and a longtime supporter of independent radio. Tune in to 88.5 FM or stream it to hear his musical picks and commentary, live 1-3 p.m. If you miss the live show, it will be rebroadcast on air and streaming, 7-9 p.m. that evening.

SOS forum recording

A “Save Our Schools” town hall was held Sept 12 at the Ponderay Events Center, and was recorded and broadcast by KRFY the following day. A capacity crowd heard discussion by a local panel on the impact on public schools of the Parental Choice Tax Credit, aka House Bill 93, that was approved by the Idaho Legislature to provide $50 million in funding to families who educate their children in private schools.  Did you miss the forum? A note on KRFY funding

How has defunding and closure of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting affected KRFY? Our station is funded solely by listeners, supporters and underwriters and has never received funding from the CPB. But some syndicated shows KRFY airs will be affected. The National Federation of Community Broadcasters has prepared a statement on impacts of the CPB closure. Click to read it.
