Candidate interviews for contested races

As part of our Local Decision 2022 series from April 7-May 12 on the KRFY Morning Show, host Chris Bessler interviewed candidates in the May 17 primary for contested local races for Bonner County offices and District 1 Legislature. All candidates are on the Republican party ballot, as there are no contested races on the Democratic ballot. Interviews ran around 15 minutes each. Click below to listen to individual interviews.

Additionally, 88.5 KRFY co-sponsored with SandpointOnline.com and the Sandpoint Reader two candidate forums. On May 2, candidates for Bonner County assessor and both commissioner seats fielded questions from the audience; on May 3, candidates for Idaho Legislature in Senate and both House seats answered questions. Morning Show Schedule: Sheriff Daryl Wheeler, Christmas Bird Count, Senator Shawn Keough, Human Rights Day

Here’s what’s coming up the week of December 3 – on the Morning Show on 88.5 KRFY. Airtime is 8 a.m. … but if you miss a show, you can hear a recorded podcast of it later in the day, on our Podcasts page on this website.

Tuesday, December 4: Hosts Julie Kallemeyn and Phil Hough will sit down with Bonner County Sheriff, Daryl Wheeler to talk about sheriff department news, community emergency response team, and neighborhood watch.  A second interview will cover the upcoming Christmas Bird Count. Tune in at 8 a.m.

Wednesday, December 5: Tune in as Morning Show hosts Suzy Prez and Chris Bessler visit with Idaho State Senator, Shawn Keough.  Airtime is 8 a.m.

Thursday, December 6: Hosts Jim Healey and Jack Peterson will visit with Brenda Hammond from the Bonner County Human Rights Task Force about Human Rights Day.  Airtime 8 a.m.

A note on KRFY funding

How has defunding and closure of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting affected KRFY? Our station is funded solely by listeners, supporters and underwriters and has never received funding from the CPB. But some syndicated shows KRFY airs will be affected. The National Federation of Community Broadcasters has prepared a statement on impacts of the CPB closure. Click to read it.
