KRFY Information Table at Earth Day Event 2013

Diane Newcomer, executive board member and volunteer co-ordinator at KRFY, staffs the info table at the Earth Day Event on April 20, 2013.

The volunteers at 88.5 FM, Panhandle Community Radio, set up an information display at the recent Earth Day event held at the Forrest M. Bird Charter School facility in south Sandpoint on Saturday, April 20. Diane Newcomer, executive board member, Ken Casler, on-air host, and Meredith Field, membership and fund-raising co-ordinator all contributed to sharing information about the station’s mission and past activities. A slide show created by Meredith showed a continuous stream of images from the fund raising events, studio production work, and the many interviews with Panhandle guests attesting to the wide range of events and organizations contributing to the vitality of our community..

A note on KRFY funding

How has defunding and closure of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting affected KRFY? Our station is funded solely by listeners, supporters and underwriters and has never received funding from the CPB. But some syndicated shows KRFY airs will be affected. The National Federation of Community Broadcasters has prepared a statement on impacts of the CPB closure. Click to read it.
