KRFY at Earth Day Celebration on Sunday, April 22

Sunday, April 22, was Earth Day, and there was a celebration of life at the Charter School on Madison Street in Sandpoint. KRFY had a table in the exhibit area along with other organizations. Volunteers at the KRFY table heard many positive comments about the station and the good job that KRFY volunteers are doing. The station received raves about the music selection and the news programs, especially Al Jazeera AM and PM.

The day was picture perfect, and activities took place outside. Inside there were a fashion show with recycled material; music from several bands and choirs; puppet shows; a performance by the local belly dancing group; a raptor display with several live birds; and much more. Thanks to the Charter School for hosting the event.

A note on KRFY funding

How has defunding and closure of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting affected KRFY? Our station is funded solely by listeners, supporters and underwriters and has never received funding from the CPB. But some syndicated shows KRFY airs will be affected. The National Federation of Community Broadcasters has prepared a statement on impacts of the CPB closure. Click to read it.
