88.5 KRFY Is Going Forward!

At the board meeting on Friday afternoon, March 2, the Board of Directors for 88.5 KRFY passed the following motion: “The Board of Directors of 88.5 KRFY (Panhandle Community Radio) have determined that it is feasible to continue broadcasting into the foreseeable future due to support from the community, businesses, and volunteers
stepping forward.”

The following businesses have become KRFY underwriters: Art Works Gallery, Carousel Emporium, and Ivano’s. KRFY thanks them for their support.

Now, the station is going to move forward with a pledge drive, grant writing, and events. Listen to 88.5 KRFY and bookmark this page for updates on these activities.

Thanks to the north Idaho community.

Underwriting Update!

The meeting at the Sandpoint Library on Tuesday night (February 28) was a success. Discussion about the future of the station was energetic and fruitful. Underwriting will be an ongoing process, but it looks like KRFY will be able to stay on the air beyond April 1 and well into the future. Now, the Board of Directors, along with the positive support of station volunteers and the community, will now move into the next phase of financial sustainability. Grant writing, a
pledge drive, and community events are on the agenda. Stay tuned to the KRFY website for more updates.

KRFY would like to thank the following businesses for becoming station underwriters: Air Pipe; MultiLingual Computing, Inc.; Doug Jones & Associates; Cloud Construction; Evergreen Realty; Evans Brothers Coffee Roasters; Keokee Creative Group; Kaniksu Health Services; Idaho Weed Guy; Parks Cottages; Hope Marine; Sandpoint Property Management; Sunshine Gold Mine; and Dr. Julie Gagnon, Eye Care for You.

In the weeks ahead, we will be adding the names of the other businesses that are hopping on the KRFY underwriting bandwagon!

If a business is interested in underwriting for KRFY, please contact Julie Perchynski, Underwriting Coordinator, at 263-6583 or via e-mail at [email protected]..

A note on KRFY funding

How has defunding and closure of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting affected KRFY? Our station is funded solely by listeners, supporters and underwriters and has never received funding from the CPB. But some syndicated shows KRFY airs will be affected. The National Federation of Community Broadcasters has prepared a statement on impacts of the CPB closure. Click to read it.
