What’s on tap for Morning Show talk

Here is what’s coming on our local current events program, the Morning Show, as we move into the middle of December:

KRFY Morning ShowTuesday, December 12: Join Morning Show hosts Phil Hough and Julie Kallemeyn and  guests Don and Landon Otis and Jeff Berman – a local trio who this past summer pulled off an epic three-peak hike in a single day. Airtime is 8 a.m., here on 88.5 KRFY.

Wednesday, December 13: ‘Tis the season of KRFY’s annual year-end giving appeal, and hosts Chris Bessler and Suzy Prez will be visiting with some of the folks who support KRFY in search of an answer to the question: “Why do YOU support local community radio?” Also on tap is an interview with Kim Keaton of Reclaim Idaho, the Sandpoint-based statewide movement in support of public education, health care and public lands. That’s at 8 a.m. on 88.5 KRFY over the air, or right here by way of our live stream button at right.

Thursday, December 14: Join hosts, Jack Peterson and Jim Healey for a talk with Debbie Love, director of the Bonner Community Food Bank. Tune in at 8 a.m. to 88.5, or click to our live stream to hear online.

Upcoming on the KRFY Morning Show!

The wintry holiday season is upon us, and upcoming on the KRFY Morning Show for the week of December 5 are topics for the times. Here is what’s on tap:

Tuesday, December 5: Join Morning Show hosts Phil Hough and Julie Kallemeyn for a talk about snow, avalanches and backcountry safety, with representatives from the Panhandle Avalanche Center. Also on tap for a second segment will be organizers from the Lions Club in to talk about the annual Toys For Tots campaign now under way. Wednesday, December 6: It’s a day of many and varied local voices on the topic of KRFY itself, as hosts Chris Bessler and Suzy Prez talk with a panoply of KRFY underwriters to learn why, exactly, they choose to support KRFY and community radio. Airtime is 8 a.m. at 88.5 FM or streaming right here online.

Thursday, December 7: Join Morning Show hosts Jim Healey and Jack Peterson for more insight to your community radio station. They’ll be talking with a few KRFY broadcasters and reviewing the KRFY program schedule with a few revelations about locally broadcast programs that some listeners may not have yet discovered. KRFY holiday spectacular live variety show

Celebrate the holidays. KRFY’s live radio show celebrating Christmas and the holidays is coming Friday, Dec 5, 7-9 p.m. at the Panida Theater. This variety show with all-local music, Christmas readings, skits and good humor has grown each year. You can tune in to 88.5 KRFY to hear the live broadcast – but even better, come share the warm holiday spirt and attend at the Panida. Tickets are just $10 (and all goes to help keep KRFY on the air). Click for tickets.

A note on KRFY funding

How has defunding and closure of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting affected KRFY? Our station is funded solely by listeners, supporters and underwriters and has never received funding from the CPB. But some syndicated shows KRFY airs will be affected. The National Federation of Community Broadcasters has prepared a statement on impacts of the CPB closure. Click to read it.
