On May 4 and 5, candidates that will be on the ballot in the upcoming May 19 primary election spoke at separate forums held at Sandpoint High School.
The May 4 forum featured candidates for District 1 Idaho Legislature:
• Senator: Republicans Scott Herndon and Jim Woodward (incumbent); and Independent Steve Johnson (unopposed)
• House Seat A: Republicans Jane Sauter and Mark Sauter (incumbent); and Independent Karen Mathee.
• House Seat B: Republicans Chuck Lowman and Cornel Rasor (incumbent); and Independent Kathryn Larson.

The May 5 forum for county offices featured contested races:
• County Clerk: Republicans Spencer Hutchings and Roger Rudd
• District 2 Commissioner: Republicans Jeff Roberts and Asia Williams (incumbent).
