After a brief update from Multi-District Fire Chief Jeff Armstrong, The District 1 delegation of Senator Jim Woodward and Representative Mark Sauter held a town hall on Saturday, May 3, at Sandpoint Community Hall, and gave analysis of the 2025 legislative session before taking questions from the audience.

CANDIDATE INTERVIEWS

For KRFY’s Local Decision ’26, running up to the November 3 election, each Wednesday beginning September 30 we’ll be airing interviews with candidates for the contested Bonner County Commissioner District 1; and Legislative District 1 offices of House Seat A and B, and Senate.

There are also three local ballot measures to be covered during the Local Decision series. The City of Sandpoint is proposing a 1% local option tax on all sales in the city. The City of Dover will have a proposal for a 12% short-term lodging tax. The Westside Fire District is proposing a two-year property tax levy increase of $23 per $100,000 assessed value.

A variety of state and federal offices, plus ballot propositions, will also be on the ballot. Click to see the sample consolidated general election ballot.

A note on KRFY funding

How has defunding and closure of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting affected KRFY? Our station is funded solely by listeners, supporters and underwriters and has never received funding from the CPB. But some syndicated shows KRFY airs will be affected. The National Federation of Community Broadcasters has prepared a statement on impacts of the CPB closure. Click to read it.
