Benefit Concert for KRFY at Di Luna’s Friday Evening Featuring Truck Mills with Opening Act, Deep Fried Anything

An evening of friends, fun, food & music  to benefit KRFY, 88.5 FM, Panhandle Community Radio.

Opening act, Deep Fried Anything begins the show –  five fun friends making music together, followed by the headliner Truck Mills, a critically acclaimed blues and folk singer/musician well known on the local music scene for his “soul-stirring”, inspired acoustic guitar playing and vocals.

See you at Di Luna’s Café, Friday, August 24. Dinner begins at 5:30 pm, Concert 7:30 pm — $10.00 per ticket. Attendees order dinner from a special menu (price not included with concert ticket).  You must make dinner reservations in advance.

• Monday, August 6, at 9:00 am: Kim Queen, executive director of the Pend Oreille Arts Council (POAC)

• Tuesday, August 7, at 9:00 am: Lucy West and Barbara Janusz, two local artists, will talk about the Artists’ Studio Tour of North Idaho

• Wednesday, August 8, at 10:00 am: Eagle Scout Bryce Frazier will be stopping by the station to talk to another Eagle Scout (Jim Healey) about scouting

• Thursday, August 9, at 9:00 am: Camile McKitrick, seed librarian at the East Bonner County Library in Sandpoint, will talk about the Seed Library

Kim Queen, executive director of the Pend Oreille Arts Council (POAC), will talk about the upcoming Arts & Crafts Fair at Sandpoint City Beach on August 11 – 12. Kim will also remind listeners about POAC’s 35th Annual ArtWalk that is continuing through September 7 and the encore receptions on Friday, August 24, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.

Visiting guests on 88.5 KRFY, Thursday, August 9, at 9:00 AM

 

Camile McKitrick, seed librarian at the East Bonner County Library in Sandpoint, talked about the Seed Library, a growing phenomenon across the country for the past couple of years. The library will host a range of seeds for natural, local plants that patrons can “check out” at the beginning of each year to plant and grow in their personal gardens. At the end of the growing season, the patrons will gather a few seeds from their plants and return them to the library to continue the cycle..

Long Bridge Swim Happening this Coming Weekend

Jeffery Poole interviewed Eric Ridgeway live on air this morning to give last minute details about the Long Bridge Swim happening on the Saturday, August 4 at 9AM. Details about the history, swimmers, volunteers and the water were all discussed and the excitement is building for one of the best swimming competitions, anywhere! Sandpoint Music Conservatory Performance

Tomorrow afternoon at 1:00pm at the First Lutheran Church on the corner of Ontario and Olive streets there will be a performance by the Sandpoint Music Conservatory that will include most of the ensemble, choir and drama. It is free and is open to the public. We hope to see you there!.

Monday, July 2, a little after 9:00 am: Rick Leader, disc golf enthusiast, will stop by the station to update listeners on the progress of the disc gold course being constructed on North Boyer Street on the University of Idaho extension campus.

Tuesday, July 3, a little after 9:00 am: Mary Crowe Costello, executive director of the Rock Creek Alliance, and Jim Costello, outreach and media coordinator, will talk about the Rock Creek Alliance, its history, and the issues with which the organization is dealing.

Tuesday, July 3, a little after 10:00 am: Eric Ridgway, vegetarian extraordinaire, will talk about the Veggie BQ and Picnic Potluck with the Wild Wood Marimba Band on Sunday, July 8, at 4:30 pm, at the City Beach Pavilion. Eric will also update listeners on the Long Bridge Swim scheduled for Saturday, August 4.

Wednesday, all day: Get out and be festive! Attend a parade, participate in a fun run, or just say “Hello” to a neighbor. 

Thursday, July 5, a little after 9:00 am: Dory McIsaac, operator and executive director of Mystic Farm Wildlife Rescue, Inc., will talk about Mystic Farm, its mission, and its operations.

Friday, July 6, a little after 9:00 am: Steve Holt, executive director of the Eureka Institute, and Tracy Fox, program director, will talk about the many summer programs that the institute is offering.

Friday, July 6, a little after 10:00 am: Deborah McShane, director of “The Music Man,” will talk about the play and how its first weekend went at the Panida Theater. The play will continue its run at the Panida Theater on July 6, 7, 13, and 14 at 8:00 pm and with one matinee on Saturday, July 7, at 2:00 pm.

Tuesday, June 26, a little after 9:00 am: Suzy Prez, local musician and member of Wild Honey, will stop by the station to talk about the upcoming KRFY benefit performance at the Green Door at Garfield Bay on Sunday, July 1, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

Wednesday, June 27, a little after 9:00 am: Deborah McShane, director, and Teresa Pesce, producer, of Sandpoint Onstage’s production of The Music Man will stop by to talk about the performances at the Panida Theater on June 29-30, July 6-7, July 8 (matinee), and July 13-14. Joining them will be Ben Thompson, Kate Fox, Kate McAlister, and Spencer Thompson, cast members of the production.

Thursday, June 28, a little after 9:00 am: Kim Woodruff, head of Sandpoint Parks and Recreation, will talk about the 25th World Harmony Run coming to Sandpoint on this Thursday, June 28, at 4:30 pm at the gazebo in City Beach Park.

Thursday, June 28, a little after 10:00 am: Beth Bollinger, author, will talk about her book Until the End of the Ninth, a novel about the 1946 Spokane Indians baseball team.

Friday, June 29, a little after 9:00 am: Larry Alford and Suzy Prez, two members of KRFY’s program committee, will preview the new 13-week program schedule that begins on July 1 and runs through September 30.

Friday, June 29, a little after 10:00 am: Megan Olson, organizer of Haden’s Heart 5k Fun Run on July 4 in Clark Fork, Idaho, will revisit KRFY to talk about the event and will encourage community members to sign up for the run. The money raised will go towards scholarships for students in Haden’s class..
