Thursday, at 9:00 am  Jace Bylenga, interim chair and Dennison Webb, executive director of Selkirk Outdoor Leadership & Education (SOLE), Inc., talked about SOLE’s Winter Fieldwork Experience program, a series of place-based, outdoor education opportunities for local area youth in the Inland Northwest. They also informed us of their upcoming fund-raiser and awareness educational film festival at the Panida Theater at the end of the month..

November 7, Wednesday, at 9:00 am: Bill Collier, secretary of the Sandpoint Chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America, talked about the Marine Corps Birthday Luncheon on Saturday, November 10; the film Life After Service to be shown at the Panida Theater at 3:00 pm on November 10; the events to be held on Sunday, November 11, the actual Veterans’ Day; and the annual assembly at Sandpoint High School on Monday, November 12, honoring veterans..

Fund Raiser at Di Luna’s Cafe this Saturday Evening


Come join us this Saturday evening for a dinner (beginning at 5:30 PM) and the concert event (beginning at 7:30 PM) featuring local favorites, musical duo Doug and Kim Bond. Their performances bring an energized and exciting mix of folk, rock, bluegrass, highlighted by their blazing vocal solos and soulful harmonies. Opening act will be the women’s trio, The Wild Honey Band, with their upbeat take on classic pop ballads. Join us for an evening sure to entertain.

Tonight’s Interview for “Between the Notes” with Suzy Prez: Stan Hall


Join us tonight, November 6th at 8 pm on 88.5 KRFY for another edition of “Between the Notes”.

This week’s guest is singer/songwriter Stan Hall who lives at
Frog Creek Farms in Deer Park Washington.  Stan is a well known
guitarist in the Inland Northwest Bluegrass scene and former
front man for the popular  Heartbreak Pass bluegrass band.

Upcoming Guest on 88.5 KRFY, Week of November 5-9

The following guests will be coming to 88.5 KRFY from November 5 (Monday) through November 9 (Friday). Tell a friend and tune in. Hear about the many good things that individuals and organizations are doing to improve the quality of life for all people in north Idaho.

November 5, Monday, at 9:00 am: Rob Wakeley, Kinderhaven board member, will talk about Kinderhaven’s Festival of Trees  (November 29 – December 1) as well as the 2012 Kinderhaven Angels of the Year.

November 6, Tuesday, at 9:00 am: Scott Rulander and Kevin Davis from the Idaho Panhandle Avalanche Center will talk about the center’s mission and activities. Also, the center is showing Superheroes of Stoke, a new ski movie from MSP Films, on November 9, at 7:00 pm at the Panida Theater.

Thursday Morning Interview with the Bonner Community Food Bank Directors

Jim Healey was in the studios this morning at 9AM to interview Alice Wallace, Executive Director, and Jennie Aus, Assistant Director, of our local Bonner Community Food Bank. They are celebrating 1 year in their new facility with an open house scheduled for November 9th, 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM. The need for holiday meal items, including an estimated 1,000 turkeys (only 6 are currently at the food bank!) was a priority topic, as well as the operations and distribution systems that the facility offers the community in need..

November’s Benefit Concert for KRFY at Di Luna’s Announced

Doug and Kim Bond appearing at Di Luna’s Cafe

Keep your calendar open for another fund-raiser concert at Di Luna’s Cafe on Cedar Street in early November. Local performers Doug and Kim Bond headline with their energized and exciting mix of folk, rock, bluegrass, highlighted by blazing vocal solos and soulful harmonies.

Opening for the Bonds are the Wild Honey Band, a trio of fun ladies bringing their vocal and acoustic talents together as they redefine renditions of popular rock ballads.

This fund-raiser benefit for your panhandle community radio station, 88.5 FM, KFRY is scheduled for November 10th at 7:30 PM, with optional dinner beginning at 5:30 PM. Please call Di Luna’s in advance to make your separate dinner reservations..

North Idaho College Interview on Tuesday Morning: Open House this Thursday at New Facility

Jim Healey invited representatives from the local field campus of North Idaho College (NIC) into the studio on Tuesday morning to discuss the open house introduction of the relocated classrooms now at the Sandpoint Events Center (previous located at the Bonner Mall).  Amy Flint, (English Instructor) and Mary Gustafik (Center Coordinator) discussed the new facility, the classes available, and the opportunity for Sandpoint residents of all ages and income brackets to take advantage of furthering their eduction in this accredited satellite facility, part of the Coeur d’Alene North Idaho College campus..
