Morning Show rings in June with community happenings

KRFY morning showOn Tuesday, June 2, listen to the KRFY Morning Show as hosts Suzy Prez and Chris Bessler talk with Nancy Dooley of the Idaho Conservation League on local issues, plus the upcoming Pend d’Oreille Bay Trail Fun Run.

On Thursday, June 4, join  KRFY Morning Show hosts Jack Peterson and Diane Newcomer as they talk with speakers from the National Mental Health Alliance, followed by Bill Percy, Hope author of “Climbing the Coliseum,” a national Foreword Reviews book award finalist.  Listen live at 8 a.m. on 88.5 KRFY.

And coming up June 12-13, it’s the KRFY Annual Membership Drive.  We will be broadcasting live from the Bernd building (former Coldwater Creek storefront) at 311 N. First Avenue, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Thee public is invited to stop by and join the festivities … and maybe get a bit of airtime themselves!.

Interview With Patchy Sanders Band, Live In-Studio Today!

Suzy Prez has arranged for an impromptu interview with members of the bands, Patchy Sanders (in photo above: Suzy Prez, left; Dani, center; Ian, right), at 1:00 P. M. toady at the KRFY studios. They will be in at to talk about tonight’s benefit concert for KRFY Community Radio. The concert line up includes: Patchy Sanders, and Lindsey Lou and the Flat Bellys (introduced by our own manager, Suzy Prez) live on stage at the Panida Theater, downtown Sandpoint. Doors open at 6:30 P.M. and the concert is scheduled to get underway at 7:00 P.M.

Thursday, May 28, 8:00 a.m., join the KRFY Morning Show hosts Jack Peterson and Diane Newcomer and their guest Gail Bolin, organizer for the local Arbor Day celebration.

Then at 8:30 a.m., a second guest will join the show — Phil Hough from Friends of Scotchman Peaks Wilderness. Listen in to hear about news from Phil, just back from Washington D.C.

KRFY holiday spectacular live variety show

Celebrate the holidays. KRFY’s live radio show celebrating Christmas and the holidays is coming Friday, Dec 5, 7-9 p.m. at the Panida Theater. This variety show with all-local music, Christmas readings, skits and good humor has grown each year. You can tune in to 88.5 KRFY to hear the live broadcast – but even better, come share the warm holiday spirt and attend at the Panida. A note on KRFY funding

How has defunding and closure of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting affected KRFY? Our station is funded solely by listeners, supporters and underwriters and has never received funding from the CPB. But some syndicated shows KRFY airs will be affected. The National Federation of Community Broadcasters has prepared a statement on impacts of the CPB closure. Click to read it.
