A Full Week of Events YOU Need to Know!

On Tuesday, June 16, KRFY Morning Show hosts Suzy Prez and Chris Bessler talked with Susan Drumheller with the Idaho Conservation League about continuing efforts concerning oil trains traversing our town, plus the upcoming June 24 oil forum. At bottom of the hour, the talk turned to reading and writing with East Bonner County Library Children’s Librarian Suzanne Davis, speaking about the upcoming children’s writing camp.

On Wednesday, June 17, it’s a bonus double-header Morning Show, with host Jim Healey will be conducting two interviews.

At 8:00 a.m. Jim will be interviewing Debbie Love, executive director of the Pend Orielle Arts Council. Debbie will tell about the upcoming ArtWalk that kicks off on this Friday, June 19, and will run through September 11. The artwork of local and regional artists will be displayed in businesses throughout Sandpoint. Learn about the event and enjoy the art of some of the many talented artists in north Idaho.

Then, at 9:00 a.m. Jim gets musical with Dyno Wahl, executive director of the Festival at Sandpoint. Dyno will be talking about the artists who will be performing at this year’s Festival in early August, while Jim airs songs from some of this year’s Festival artists such as Lake Street Dive, Arlo Guthrie, Wilco, Ziggy Marley, Trampled by Turtles, and Vince Gill.

On Thursday, June 18, join KRFY Morning Show hosts Jack Peterson and Jim Healey. Their guest this week will be Kim Queen from the Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce. Listen at 8:00 a.m. on 88.5 KRFY.  At 9 a.m. Jim will interview Patricia Walker-White from the Panida Theater about her upcoming Summer Musical Theater Camp for youngsters that will begin on June 22 and run for two weeks at the theater, finishing with a live performance of the Jungle Book, on stage. Other theater news will also be discussed during this hour-long session.

KRFY holiday spectacular live variety show

Celebrate the holidays. KRFY’s live radio show celebrating Christmas and the holidays is coming Friday, Dec 5, 7-9 p.m. at the Panida Theater. This variety show with all-local music, Christmas readings, skits and good humor has grown each year. You can tune in to 88.5 KRFY to hear the live broadcast – but even better, come share the warm holiday spirt and attend at the Panida. A note on KRFY funding

How has defunding and closure of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting affected KRFY? Our station is funded solely by listeners, supporters and underwriters and has never received funding from the CPB. But some syndicated shows KRFY airs will be affected. The National Federation of Community Broadcasters has prepared a statement on impacts of the CPB closure. Click to read it.
