In Studio Pledge Drive Guests and Performers at KRFY: the Second Day

Volunteer on Friday morning, Jenny Leo, at the phone taking incoming pledges.

This morning, the second day of our Annual Radio Pledge Drive here at KRYF, the volunteers at phone center were taking calls from listeners ready to pledge their financial support and donations to ensure quality, non-commercial, radio programming in north Idaho. The listening audience were treated to the following program:

An interview at 9:00 AM, by Suzy Prez with local master guitarist, Leon Atkinson, giving a history of his musical upbringing and treating the listening audience to his selected, original compositions. We were very honored to have Mr. Atkinson return to the KRFY studios after a long silence since his last broadcast.

At 10:00 AM, Jim Healey had an interview with City Public Works Director, Cody Van Dyk (right), and City Council member, Aaron Qualls (left) with an update about the current plans for reclaiming the downtown-core street traffic flow now that various thoroughfares are once again in control of the City’s jurisdiction after the State highway bypass diverted traffic off the City’s streets.

In-studio performers: left to right — Keegan Bernardin, Torrin Bernardin, Kai Whitley, music performance director, Karin Wedemeyer, interviewer, Jim Healey.

The Music Conservatory of Sandpoint’s director, Karin Wedemeyer, brought three conservatory students in to the studio on Friday morning at 10:30 AM to play in an ensemble of stringed instruments. They performed classical music and had a lively discussion, on-air, with Jim Healey about their studies and the program. Kai Whitley, Torrin and Keegan Bernardin delighted the studio and listening audience with various inspiring, classical selections.

Left to right: Diane Dennis, Jim Healey, Lois Miller — interview about The Cottage benefiting Panhandle Special Needs of Idaho.

Jim Healey had an interview at 11:30 AM with Diane Dennis and Lois Miller from The Cottage of Panhandle Special Needs of Idaho (PSNI), the local, nonprofit store and training center that helps generate much needed funds for our community’s special needs population. They discussed upcoming and ongoing fund-raising events including a drawing for a complete fishing boat, an arts and crafts artisan’s fair (September 7), and their annual Christmas event.

At a little after 12:00 PM, Suzy Prez interviewed singer/songwriter Patrice Webb about her music and latest endeavors. Patrice is also a active KRFY volunteer in the P.R. department — many thanks for all her supportive efforts!.
