KRFY Morning ShowTuesday, November 7: Join Morning Show hosts Phil Hough and Julie Kallemeyn as they offer musings about the late River Journal news magazine, with publisher Trish Gannon and contributing writers Sandy Compton and Ernie Hawks. Tune in at 8 a.m at 88.5 KRFY, Panhandle Community Radio.

Wednesday, November 8: Join Morning Show hosts Chris Bessler and Suzy Prez for analysis of the “Local Decision 2017,” with a wrap-up of the Sandpoint and Ponderay city council elections held just the previous day, with Ben Olson of the Sandpoint Reader. A second interview with folks from the upcoming Farmers Holiday Market will follow, for a two-topic morning. That’s at 8 a.m on 88.5 KRFY.

Thursday, November 9: Join Morning Show hosts Jack Peterson and Jim Healey. Their guest will be Madeline Elliott from the Unknown Locals playacting group, who will talk about the upcoming production of “Thoreau: Ballad of Walden.” Airtime is 8 a.m., right here on 88.5 KRFY.

Special podcast: Sandpoint City Council candidates’ forum

Local Decision 2017 on KRFYKRYF joined Sandpoint Reader and SandpointOnline.com on Oct. 30, 2017 to sponsor a candidates’ forum for Sandpoint City Council candidates at Sandpoint Community Hall, for the upcoming Tuesday, Nov. 7 city elections.

Of the six candidates for the three open council seats, three attended and spoke: Joel Aispuro, Jeff Bohnhof and Shannon Williamson. Three candidates who will also be on the ballot did not attend: John Darling, Mose Dunkel and Robert Jediny. In the forum moderated by Ben Olson of the Reader, the audience of about 60 submitted questions for the candidates to answer.

A note on KRFY funding

How has defunding and closure of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting affected KRFY? Our station is funded solely by listeners, supporters and underwriters and has never received funding from the CPB. But some syndicated shows KRFY airs will be affected. The National Federation of Community Broadcasters has prepared a statement on impacts of the CPB closure. Click to read it.
