Our in-studio, live on-air, three-day event reaches the peak of our fundraising effort today. The following folks came down to the studio to share their talents and help with the last day of our fund drive goals:
At 12:00 PM, on-air personalities Ken Casler and Bruce Arnold began the day by interviewing Dr. Julie Gagnon about her generous eye-care program for third-world vision needs, and then for our enlightenment we were treated to her original compositions that she performed live in the studio.
At 1:00 PM Jim Healey was in the studio to interview Dyno Wahl, executive director of The Festival at Sandpoint. They discussed, and played, cuts from all the scheduled artists at this summer’s concert event. Choice tickets for the concerts were donated by her for our fund raising premiums and given away live on air. Thanks again to Dyno for her continued support of KRFY, community radio.
At 1:30 PM, Jim Healey interviewed the young musician, Jake Robin, live in the studio. Jake played several of his original compositions and shared his creative process with the audience. Then, Shanna Thompson, who was in the afternoon’s lineup, joined Jake for a three-song, impromptu duet. What a treat!
At 2:30 PM, Jim continued the live interview schedule with Karen Bowers, executive director of the Panida Theatre, for a discussion of the news of completing the purchase of the digital projection system at the theatre (they are still in need of funds for the sound system), the upcoming performances and films showing at our local, home-grown community theatre just down the street here in Sandpoint. Karen generously signed up, live on-air, herself and the Panida for a supporting memberships. Thanks to Karen for her years of dedication to the arts in our community!
At 3:00 PM, Mike Thompson joined his wife, Shanna, in the studio for a musical performance and interview by Jeff Poole. They sang many of their harmonious duets accompanied by their talented guitar playing.

The innovative and energetic electronic/jazzy-synthesis into funk stylings of Right Front Burner (RFB) band, renamed this evening in honor of our fund drive event as the “KRFB” band, took the in-studio performances to an entirely new level of excellence. The Mocha Room’s caffeinated essence was inspiration to the hypnotic jamming of this talented group, live on-air!
Matt Jabon was back in the studio and on-air to interview Rick Leader about the Disc Golf course out at the old UofI research site on north Boyer Avenue. The audience learned all about this fast growing, skillful sport that combines the complexities of golfing and the free-flying joy of Frisbee tossing.
Bare Grass performing in the studio at 8:00 PM Saturday night brought rollicking Blue Grass energy to the countdown in the last minutes of our Pledge Drive.
