Annual Pledge Drive for KRFY Happening June 6-8, Live In The Studio


The many volunteers at KRFY are joining together for a fund-raising effort the first week of June this year. Please tune in during our 3-day event to hear live, local performers, special in-studio guests, and special offers for free prizes, among them:  a Joel Keefe-Shoemaker handcrafted guitar; two guitar lessons by talented musician Doug Bond — when you become a new member, renew your membership, become a volunteer, or call and just to let us know you are listening. You will be automatically entered when you take the opportunity to renew your membership early or when you call in ( 208-265-2992) during our pledge drive June 6th, 7th, and 8th. The drawing will be held on-air at 9:00pm June 8th (one entry per person)..

Addressing the Need for Enforcement Sensitivity Training for Panhandle Law Enforcement Employees

10:00 AM on Tuesday morning, Susy Prez interviewed Ann Wimberley from NAMI Far North, about this organization’s mission to serve and support those with mental illness in Boundry and Bonner counties. She was joined with Sandpoint police chief Daryl Wheeler to discuss the Crisis Intervention Team training for law enforcement personnel when dealing with an action involving people in need of special understanding..

Epic Fund-Raising Bike Ride for School Children Hunger In Bonner County

On Monday, June 3rd, 9:00 AM, Suzy Prez interviewed Mac Hollan about his bike ride fundraiser “Point to Bay” in support of Children’s Hunger Programs and Bonner County Community Food Bank. He will ride from Sandpoint to the north slope of the Alaska wilderness for over 2,750 miles. Mac departs on June 17th. The team hopes to raise 25,000 in donations to be able to provide backpacks of food to send home with students in need in our area (estimated at 300).

Discussion of Water Quality: a Major Concern for Our Unique Waterway’s Supply System

On Wednesday, June 5th, Suzy Prez was in the studio at 9:00 AM to interview Jace Bylenga and a member of his crew representing LakeASyst. We heard about this non-profit organization’s effort to protect the water quality in our area and about upcoming events that are planned for the summer.

Peek at News and Views from the Peak


Suzy Prez has a bonus interview with a member of the Friends of Scotchman Peak Wilderness project in the studio on Wednesday morning at 10 AM. Join us to hear an update on the status of the group’s wilderness designation proposal (there are some exciting things going on) and announcement of an upcoming event this weekend, Friday May 31, at the Eureka West facility (220 N. 6th in the Old Granary District). At the event on Friday there will be a presentation by Whitney “Allgood” LaRuffa, on hiking with dogs, as well as recognition of honored volunteers (name the Old Goat, their volunteer of the year)..
