KRFY Interviews the Second Week of September 2013

Wednesday, September 11 at 9:00 AM: Nancy Dooley from the Idaho Conservation League (ICL) was in the studio with host Suzy Prez to talk about an upcoming fundrasing event and  ICL’s 40th year celebration.

 

Friday, September 13th at 9:00 AM: Host Suzy Prez welcomed Vicki Longhini from the Sandpoint Nordic Club. Vicki talked about the club, it’s fall fundraising calendar, the youth program and the upcoming ski season.

 

Friday, September 13th at 10:00 AM: Host Suzy Prez had a special musical guest, Barry Aiken, jazz pianist and instructor at North Idaho College in the studio to talk about a performance happening at the Pearl Theater in Bonners Ferry this Saturday evening, September 14. They discussed the fund raising event for this non-profit venue and the Latin flavors of Barry’s current band, NorthPoint, that will be performing at the Pearl..

Tune in at 5:30 p.m. tonight, Sept 12, to hear a recording of the “Save Our Schools” town hall held last night at the Ponderay Events Center. A capacity crowd heard discussion by a local panel on the impact on public schools of the Parental Choice Tax Credit, aka House Bill 93, that was approved this year by the Idaho Legislature. It will  provide $50 million in funding for families who choose to educate their children in private schools. A note on KRFY funding

How has defunding and closure of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting affected KRFY? Our station is funded solely by listeners, supporters and underwriters and has never received funding from the CPB. But some syndicated shows KRFY airs will be affected. The National Federation of Community Broadcasters has prepared a statement on impacts of the CPB closure. Click to read it.
